OUR CLINICAL VALUES

OUR STORY

Growing up, we both saw how chronic illness and untreated pain affected the quality of life for people we cared about.

We were raised in Chicago, IL in a first generation family; our father and his parents having immigrated from Guanajuato, Mexico in the 1960’s. Our grandmother came from a lineage of healers and shared her knowledge of traditional medicine with our father and his siblings; this knowledge and energy has always been part of our lives. At the same time, we witnessed the city and state healthcare systems ignore, belittle, and misunderstand our family members’ health issues and concerns.

In our early twenties, we both had transformational experiences with traditional medicine: Holly began receiving acupuncture for chronic migraines, and was able to achieve total relief; Alex received a form of Indigenous medicinal massage (that also utilizes acupressure points) while visiting family in Mexico, and found relief from acute pain and illness.

We began studying Classical Chinese Medicine, and never looked back! Since that time, Holly’s personal experiences with miscarriage have led her to specialize in fertility and women’s health, and have a successful career as part of a larger holistic practice in Louisville. Holly’s mission as a practitioner is to not only treat and provide relief from challenging symptoms, but also to empower women to take charge of their health.

Meanwhile, Alex spent four years as a practitioner with Global Health Works Foundation, traveling to rural communities across the Quiché Region of Guatemala and providing thousands of free comprehensive acupuncture treatments. This experience cemented Alex’s ability to provide bilingual care, and treat complex forms of trauma, injury, and chronic illness. Alex has spent the past three years in private practice in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
